So, unrelated to music, but...

Nora here, been reading a lot about self esteem, images of women in media, etc. lately and was linked to a list much like this which I then appropriated and made my own. Frankly, I think everyone should make them, it's not really something we (well, most of us) take time to think about.

30 Things I LOVE About Myself:
-Very little embarrasses me.
-I love learning.
-I’m competitive like a motherfucker.
-I’m secretly one of the nicest, sweetest people you’ll ever know.
-I show love with my actions.
-I’m not a suck-up.
-Joy is little things: puppies, kittens, cupcakes, popsicles.
-I will always return a wallet.
-I’m fiercely loyal to my friends and my beliefs.
-The carte blanche permission I’ve given to be myself. I have some amazing, crazy stories to tell about the adventures I’ve had!
-My big blue eyes and my big, round cheeks.
-My boobs.
-My live-and-let-live attitude.
-I know how to make myself feel good.
-I am learning how to apologize.
-I can rock a giant hat.
-I stand up for myself — but I’ve also learned when to keep my mouth shut.
-My sense of humor.
-I’ve never seen a baby panda photo that didn’t make me squeal.
-I’m less insecure than ever before in my life. I love what I love and I can admit it.
-I understand baseball and hockey.
-I’m well-read.
-I have firm convictions and passionate beliefs, but I’m also not afraid to say “I don’t know” or “I need to find out more before I have an opinion.”
-I’ll try almost any food or drink once.
-I practice self-care. I used to ignore my ADD and hope it would fix itself on its own. But now I do what I need to do to make sure I’m mentally healthy.
-I don’t say “ummm” or “uhhh” a lot and I don’t end statements with question marks, as if I sound unsure.
-I realize how fabulous I am and don’t put myself down — or if I do, I try to be joking and self-deprecating about it.
-I try hard to have a consciousness about other races, classes, abilities, sexualities and genders. I’m more willing to say, “Well, so-and-so knows more about being a low-income gay black man than I do, so it’s not my place to tell him what to do.”
-I’m not afraid to dork out and admit I like the music that I like. (Clearly!)
-My sex life doesn’t embarrass me or bring me shame.
-I have good manners: I say “please,” “thank you,” and write thank you notes.
-I trust other people and, more importantly, myself.

So, there you go, that's why I think I'm fabulous. Go write your own!
